The Story Behind AddiVance®

At Medella Springs Healthcare, we often describe AddiVance® as being formulated by the same people who developed Adderall®. Because that statement understandably raises questions, we want to explain — clearly and transparently — exactly what that relationship is, and just as importantly, what it is not.

Who Created Adderall?

Adderall® was brought to market in the mid-1990s by Richwood Pharmaceuticals, a company founded in 1990 by healthcare entrepreneur Roger Griggs. Under Mr. Griggs' leadership as President and CEO, Richwood developed the Adderall brand and secured FDA approval for the product in 1996. Adderall went on to become one of the most widely prescribed medications for ADHD in the United States.

In 1997, Richwood Pharmaceuticals was acquired by Shire Pharmaceuticals Group. Following the acquisition, Mr. Griggs went on to found several other pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, including Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, PediaMed Pharmaceuticals, and Union Springs Healthcare.

The Connection to Medella Springs Healthcare

In 2020, Union Springs Healthcare — founded by Roger Griggs — merged with Medella Laboratories, founded by Michael Ewers, to form Medella Springs Healthcare. Roger Griggs serves as Chairman of the Board, and Michael Ewers serves as President and CEO.

AddiVance® was developed within this organization. When we say AddiVance was formulated by the same people who developed Adderall, we are referring to this direct, documented lineage: the founder and chairman of Medella Springs Healthcare is the same individual whose company created and commercialized Adderall in the 1990s, and the AddiVance formulation was developed under his organization's product development team of physicians and PhDs.

What AddiVance® Is — and What It Is Not

This shared history is where the connection ends. AddiVance® and Adderall® are entirely different products, and it is important to us that no one confuses the two.

A Dietary Supplement, Not a Drug

AddiVance contains no amphetamine, no stimulants, and no prescription ingredients — just vitamins, minerals, and nutritional ingredients like phosphatidylserine, omega-3s, magnesium, zinc, iron, folic acid, and curcumin extract.

Not a Treatment for ADHD

AddiVance is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. It is designed to help address nutritional imbalances that may be associated with everyday focus challenges.

Not a Medication Substitute

AddiVance is not a replacement for Adderall or any prescription medication. No one should stop, start, or change a prescribed medication based on a dietary supplement.

Not Affiliated with Adderall's Makers

AddiVance is not made, endorsed, or sponsored by the current manufacturers or trademark holders of Adderall®.

Why We Share This History
